David Stokes

Managing Director / Solicitor

Originally from the Northeast of England, David studied at Durham University and then the College of Law in York, before moving to Hull in 2006 to join a local law firm as a paralegal.

David qualified as a solicitor in 2010 and continued to work at the same firm until 2018 when he moved to a national law firm based in Leeds.

During the Covid pandemic, David took the leap of faith and decided to setup his own law firm, with Humber Law going live in 2021.

Having focussed primarily on ‘Private Client’ law since he started work as a paralegal, David has gained a wide range of experience. This includes the core areas of Wills, Trusts, tax planning, estate planning and Court of Protection work, as well as crossing into related areas such as property work and some aspects of family law.

David is also regularly involved with applications to the Court of Protection, for high value, complex Trust and Deputyship matters, working with leading barristers and other experts in this niche field.

Outside of work, whilst juggling the demands of running a law firm alongside recently becoming a father for the first time, David acts as a Trustee for a local charity and is a member of a local shoot syndicate.

Beth Fraser

Solicitor

Born and bred in Beverley, Beth started her career as a paralegal with a local law firm in 2012. Beth then qualified as a solicitor in 2018 and made the move to Humber Law in 2024.

Beth was a Dementia Champion with The Alzheimer’s Society and remains a Dementia Friend to this day. Over several years, Beth has fostered close relationships with Dementia support charities in both East Yorkshire and North Yorkshire, which has proven highly beneficial and supportive to their service users. This experience has provided Beth with a deep understanding of the complexities of mental capacity and how it impacts our clients when advising on Wills and other related matters.

Over her 12 years of working in the Private Client field, Beth has already gained a great level of experience in advising individuals, Trustees, Attorneys and Executors on whatever Private Client issues they may need help with. Beth is particularly experienced in helping to administer high-value, complex estates and probate matters.

Beth is currently studying towards her STEP diploma, having so far passed her first module entitled ‘Advanced Certificate in Administration of Estates’ in 2024. This is widely considered to be the benchmark qualification for Trusts and Estates and it is a great testament to Beth’s work ethic that she is studying for the qualification around her work and family commitments.

Outside of work, Beth is a proud mum of two young boys, loves to stay active, playing Hockey for Kingston upon Hull Ladies First Team and regularly challenges herself by taking part in long distance running events and hiking adventures.
